To the President of Kyrgyzstan,
Kurmanbek Bakiev

Ruslan Sharipov,
February 23, 2009

Nothing can, nothing will justify killing of innocent children...

Dear Kurmanbek Bakiev,

Having read the information regarding the decision of Kyrgyz authorities to stop term of stay of the American military base at airport "Manas" near Bishkek, writing to you to express gratitude and appreciation for your invaluable contribution to the establishment of peace.

Considering all negative consequences of US firing missiles and dropping bombs upon heavily populated areas of Iraq and Afghanistan, which claimed lifes of many civilians, extreme sufferings of people, your decision to close US military base demonstrates understanding the complexity of continuous human rights abuses in war zones.

Nothing can, nothing will justify killing of innocent children, the silent victims of endless wars.

Killing childred is a brutal crime...

As of Monday, February 23, 2009, at least 4,245 members of the U.S. military had died in the Iraq war, in Afghanistan - 656, according to Iraq Colalition Casualty Count database.

At least 128 US soldiers took their own lives in 2008 which is highest suicide level since 1980. Figures obtained by the Associated Press show that the number of military suicides jumped to 24 last month, compared to four in January of 2008, six in January of 2007 and ten in January of 2006.

United States Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that about one-third part of US adult homeless population have served in the Armed Services.

According to the information from the Iraq Independent committee for protection of widows and orphans, five millions children became orphans. Collected data by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that 900 thousand Iraqi children became invalids.

Experts of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) found that violence happening in Iraq, a bad food, lack of access to safe drinking water, a pitiable condition of system of public health services and sanitary, threaten lives of millions of Iraqi children. As a result of crisis, child mortality rate in Iraq is among the highest in the world. Approximately every fourth child in Iraq dies before he reaches the age of 5.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates more than 4.7 million Iraqis have left their homes. Around 1 million were displaced prior to 2003 but but the largest number has fled since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

According to the report from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), 5 years after the outbreak of the war in Iraq, humanitarian situation in most of the country remained among the most critical in the world.

The United Nations said the number of civilians deaths because of the war in Afghanistan increased by 40 percent in 2008 with a total 2,118 civilians killed in the violence, the deadliest year since the 2001 US-led invasion.

This is the sad reality of wars...

Wives and husbands who lost their loved ones, the parents left without sons and daughters... Nations of orphans, widows and the handicapped.

And the moans... the cries... and the groans of dying children, calling for their mothers.
